'Verify before posting on social media'

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan. FILE PHOTOHome Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, said: “We want to request Facebook users not to post anything without proper verification; we are identifying those who spread false news.”
The minister made the comments on Sunday (Nov 3), during a dialogue with the media with Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters’ Forum.
“Dope test has begun for all appointments under the home ministry; the home ministry has started e-passports but I am not certain about the date from when they will be introduced.”
Saying that the government has taken a zero tolerance approach towards militancy and terrorism, he added: “We are training the police to increase their skill level and have increased the manpower of police by 80,000.”
“Fifteen new units have added to police; process is underway to make 999 service is being made stronger.”
Border road will be constructed to protect the border; work is underway and BGB will get helicopters; 141 posts have been added to BGB, women have entered the army and we have modernized coast guard and river police.”
“We have modernized fire service; now, we have equipment to tackle fire accidents until 23rd floor and the accommodation facility of our prisons has risen to 36000 from 28000,” said the minister.
“Work is underway to transform the old jail because it held Bangabandhu and here four leaders were martyred; in addition, we have increased the facilities for inmates plus the food quality has been improved.”
A separate medical unit has been formed under home ministry to tackle doctor crisis at prisons, said the minister.
