Momen receives Jaishankar at Dhaka on Monday (Aug 19), 2019.Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has reiterated India’s full support to Bangladesh’s efforts in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

In a recent letter written to Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Jaishankar mentioned that the safe, speedy, and sustainable return of displaced persons to Myanmar is in the best interests of all concerned, a foreign ministry’s press release said on Sunday (Nov 3), reports BSS.

This is also in the best interest of lasting regional security and stability, Jaishankar clarified to his Bangladesh counterpart.

Indian external affair minister also expressed his deep admiration for Bangladesh in shouldering the burden of hosting more than one million displaced persons from the Rakhine State of Myanmar.

Bangladesh is hosting over 1.1 million forcefully displaced Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar district and most of them arrived there since August 25, 2017, after a military crackdown by Myanmar, which the UN called a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing” and “genocide” by other rights groups.
