'No case in first 7 days under new road laws'

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressing to media at Signboard, NarayanganjRoad Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that an awareness campaign is going on across country about new Road Transport Act that came into effect on Nov 1, and no case would be filed against any transport in first seven days.
He disclosed the decision during a visit at Signboard area of Narayanganj on Saturday (Nov 2).
The road minister inspected the implementation of new transportation laws by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority’s (BRTA) office of the area.
Quader said, “The new act will restore discipline at roads, subsequently accident rate will fall. As per Prime Minister’s directive, the act came into effect from Nov 1.”
“However, the ongoing awareness campaign of the new act needs time. So I have instructed not to lodge files against any transport company under new laws within first seven days,” he added.
