“Stern actions will be taken. Those who tried to fish in troubled waters will not be spared,” she was quoted saying during a meeting with leaders of the Awami League’s youth affiliate Jubo League on Sunday (Oct 20).

According to people who attended the meeting, the party chief hinted that a certain quarter might have orchestrated the Bhola incident in an effort to create instability.

At least four people have died and over 100 others are injured in clashes between police and locals in Bhola's Borhanuddin over a Facebook post that allegedly hurts religious sentiments.

Police said the Facebook account blamed for the religious slur had actually been hacked.

“The person whose [Facebook] ID was hacked reported to the police. The hacker has been arrested. My point is, the hacker who wrote slanderous comments is a Muslim and if he had any respect for his religion he wouldn’t have done it. The people behind him has to be found,” Hasina was quoted saying.
