Over 80 percent work of Padma Bridge done: Quader

Saying that the progress has been 84 percent, he added: “We want to complete the work by June 2021 but Padma River is unpredictable. The river has a tremendous force and there’s a lot of siltation which makes the placement of spanners difficult.”

The pile driving of the main bridge gas been completed; of the 42, 32 piers are done and work for the rest is underway; for the railway slab, 2959 pre-cast slabs will be needed. Work for 2891 slabs has been done and the rest will be done in November.”

The agreement price of the main bridge is Tk 121.3339 billion; of this, Tk 92.0193 billion has been spent, said the minister.

Work for the connecting road is done and on the acquired land, dairy farm will be established for the army; milk and meat will be produced along with creation of employment.
