In a statement on Monday (Oct 14), the Ministry of Home Affairs said those possessing legal weapons are not allowed to be deployed to provide security to other people and properties in line with the Firearms License Supply, Renewal and Use Policy-2016.
It said some people in possession of the licensed arms are deployed as the security guards by private security firms or as the bodyguard for other people violating the firearms policy.
Licensed arms can be carried in self-defense but it can’t be exhibited in such a way that creates panic and fear among the public.
Some owners of the licensed arms, however, are trying to create panic and fear among the public violating the policy, it reads.
The ministry instructed the owners of the licensed arms to not exhibit their firearms abiding by the Arms Act 1878 and the Firearms Policy 2016.
“Any violation will result in facing legal action,” the statement said.
