Exporting LPG not LNG to India: PM Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was addressing a function at Kamal Mahal Hall of Hotel ICT Maurya in New Delhi on Friday (Oct 4). FOCUS BANGLABangladesh will export liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to India not liquefied natural gas (LNG), said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
She made the statement while addressing the media on her recent US and India visits at the PM’s official residence the Ganabhaban on Wednesday (Oct 9).
“Now, we are importing LPG and some of it will be exported to the Indian state of Tripura,” Hasina said while responding to a query.
The northeast Indian state will produce electricity with the LPG imported from Bangladesh, added the prime minister.
On Sept 22, the prime minister went to New York on an eight-day visit to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
After returning from US, she went to India on Oct 3 to attend the India Economic Summit 2019 of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
During her four-day official visit, Hasina held a bilateral meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and met Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Oct 5.
The two prime ministers jointly launched three bilateral development projects and witnessed the signing of seven bilateral documents between the two neighbours.
