The World Bank has said around 8 million people have come out of poverty in Bangladesh between 2010 and 2016.
The global financial institution came up with the statement while launching a report, Bangladesh Poverty Assessment, at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday (Oct 7).
The report showed robust economic growth continued reducing poverty, but at a slower rate.
Since 2010, while the pace of economic growth increased, the rate of poverty reduction declined, the report said.
Bangladesh has progressed significantly in reducing poverty and improving living conditions, mostly driven by labour income, it added.
