The Ministry for Religious Affairs has taken a two-year project involving Taka 46 crore to create anti-militancy awareness by conducting nationwide publicity campaigns using Information Communication Technology (ICT).
“We have prepared a development project proforma (DPP) for the two-year project titled “Increasing religious harmony and awareness” involving Taka 46 crore mainly to create awareness among the people against militancy and terrorism,” Senior Assistant Chief of Religious Affairs Ministry Rezaur Rahman told BSS Sunday.
The DPP will be sent to the Planning Commission soon for its approval, he said, adding and the project has been included in the revised ADP (Annual Development Program (ADP) of the fiscal 2017-18. The work of the project is likely to start by this month (July) and end by June 2020, he informed.
“The main purpose of the project is to wipe away people’s misconception and prevent propaganda about religion by conducting massive publicity using the ICT. The most used social networking sites such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter will be used in the campaign to drum up anti-militancy opinions among the people,” he said.
“The ministry has already initiated a move to appoint a consultancy firm for successful implementation of the project,”said Rezaur Rahman, adding that the firm will be entrusted with imparting training, conducting publicity and holding workshops to this end.
