Law Minister Anisul HuqIt’s now time to focus on why the educated class in Bangladesh is now getting more involved in crimes as opposed to developed nations, says Law Minister Anisul Huq.

“We now have to think about it and families, society and educational institutes have to take actions in this regard,” he said on Saturday (Sept 28) while addressing an event to award over scholarships to students by Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL).

“Bangladesh has made substantial progress in all the education indicators, but what is concerning that despite it social crimes are not coming down. Most of the criminal activities are now perpetrated by the educated people,” said Huq.

Corruption is one of the major problems in society and the government is conducting raids to implement its zero-tolerance policy against graft.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken zero-tolerance policy against corruption and the ongoing drive against graft is part of the process to implement that policy,” he said.
