The government has appointed Md Mahbub Alam Talukder, director (joint secretary) of the Department of Disaster Management, as the new refugee relief and repatriation commissioner (RRRC) in the commissioner's Cox's Bazar office.
An official order in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.
The order asked Mahbub to join the new workplace by Thursday.
He would, otherwise, be "stand-released" from his present workplace on Thursday afternoon, the order said.
In an another order on Monday, the government made former RRRC Mohammad Abul Kalam an officer on special duty (OSD) at the Ministry of Public Administration, after withdrawing him from Cox's Bazar.
Abul Kalam, who is an additional secretary, has been attached to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, the order said.
He has also been asked to join his workplace by Thursday; otherwise, he will be "stand-released" from his present workplace, according to the order.
The government orders came a week after Rohingyas held a mass gathering at a field in Camp No 4 (extension) at Kutupalong's Modhurchhara in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar on August 25.
They held the mass gathering marking second anniversary of their influx in Bangladesh from Rakhine state, Myanmar fleeing a violentmilitary crackdown.
