AL general secretary and roads, transport and bridges minister, Obaidul Quader, has said that Bangladesh is prepared to face any situation over the Assam issue.
Saying that Bangladesh wants peace, he commented: “the issue is an internal matter of India and those who have been excluded in the citizen’s charter are sixty percent Hindu and forty per cent Muslims, but those who were omitted can appeal.”
We are observing the developments, said the veteran AL leader.
Answering to a suggestion that entry of 1.2 million Rohingyas into Bangladesh and another 1.9 million deprived of citizenship in India may be a conspiracy, he commented: “yes, this may be part of a conspiracy; our economy is the envy of many; Bangladesh has the highest GDP in South Asia.”
Regarding 111 suggestions to bring back discipline to the roads, he added: “these are recommendations and they may be curtailed, expanded or amended. Everything will be discussed at the safe road council to be held on Sept 5.”
The minister said that the copy of journalists’ wage board will be sent to the PM who will then give her decision.
Quader also said that the party council will be held in October. For BNP’s founding anniversary he conveyed best wishes, saying: “it’s our hope that they will discard negative politics and embrace a positive one.”
AL party members are working on Chhatra League members who did not get posts, said Quader.
He dismissed the rise of fines for motor cars under motor car law as ‘fictitious’.
We do not have motor car law, he stated, adding: “the existing legislation is road transport law.”
