Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to meet her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in September in the sideline of UN General Assembly.
Both the leaders are scheduled to take part in the UNGA in the next month.
“Whenever prime ministers of both the countries attend the UNGA, they meet at the sideline and we expect there would not be any exception this time,” said a foreign ministry official.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to visit India in October and discussion is underway over the memorandums of understanding (MoU) that could be signed during the visit. However, both the leaders may meet in September at the session of UN General Assembly, a foreign ministry official told Bangla Tribune.
On condition of anonymity a government official said, “There is possibility to be signed 10 to 12 MoUs in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s India visit.”
Responding a query, the official added, “MoUs could be signed in a number of sectors including capacity building, renewal of air service contracts, culture and development of youths.”
Meanwhile, On Thursday (Aug 29) morning, Indian envoy to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly called on Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque.
“They have had a discussion over the upcoming India visit,” said a foreign ministry official.
