Law Minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday said a commission will be formed soon to identity and ensure the punishment of those who were behind the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.
"To form a high-level commission on Bangabandhu killing has been a long-day demand. We’ve the opportunity to find out those who were behind the Aug 15 massacre and we want to use the opportunity now. The commission will be formed soon," he said on Saturday .
Speaking at a progamme in Dhaka, the minister also mentioned that an official announcement on the special commission would be made after consultation with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"The commission, however, should not deal with any other murder cases" he advised.
Anisul said military ruler Ziaur Rahman formed cabinet with the people loyal to Pakistan and they conspired from behind in killing Bangabandhu.
The young generation wants to know why the conspirators are yet to be tried, he added.
HASINA SAVED BANGLADESH
The minister said Sheikh Hasina has “saved the country from destruction."
Anisul said, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family were assassinated as the killers had understood that Bangladesh would not be destroyed if Bangabandhu lives.
"Now his daughter Sheikh Hasina has assumed the power and saved the country," he added.
