Janmashtami, the birth celebration of Sri Krishna and one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, was celebrated across Bangladesh on Friday (Aug 23) with due religious fervour and enthusiasm. Different religious, cultural and social organisations organised elaborate programmes to observe the Janmashtami in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.

Hindu devotees brought out a procession from the capital's Dhakeshwari National Temple, parading the capital streets and finished at Bahadur Shah Park. Followings are some pictures of Janmashtami celebration in the capital.
