Over 1,700 dengue patients hospitalised in 24hrs

As many as 1,706 people have been hospitalised with dengue-related fever across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among them, 734 patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and another 972 outside the capital, says a DGHS statement on Sunday (Aug 18).
The number of admitted patients currently receiving treatment at government and private hospitals combined is 7,168.
At present, 3,668 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka while 3,500 people are elsewhere, the statement adds.
As of Aug 18, as many as 53,182 people have been infected with dengue since Jan 1 while 45,974 people, who took admission, have been discharged by respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
According to DGHS, 40 people have died of dengue so far across Bangladesh while the unofficial death toll nears 100.
