Bangladesh Secretariat. FILE PHOTOAs the holidays have come to an end, it is time to return to work after restful and fun-filled days.

The government and private sector offices will open in full swing after nine days of Eid ul Azha and National Mourning Day holidays on Sunday (Aug 18).

Attendance at the Secretariat, the administrative hub of the country, was very thin as many officers and employees did not turn up but expected to resume their duties in the later hours of the day.

Crowds of holidaymakers, who came back to the city, were witnessed at different bus stations, Sadarghat launch terminal, and Kamalapur and Airport railway stations.

The vehicular movement in the city increased Sunday compared to the previous days while different restaurants, shopping complexes and markets were seen closed.

The Eid holidays were from Aug 11 to 13, while officials of government and private offices got an opportunity to enjoy their vacation from Aug 9 to Aug 17 with one-day optional leave on Aug 14 and Aug 9 to 10 and Aug 16 to 17 were weekly holidays. Aug 15 was the National Mourning Day.
