Bad weather during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays disrupted ferry and launch services and one simply cannot force the hand of nature, says State Minister for Shipping Ministry Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury.

Bangladesh was an otherwise safe country for travelling and the Eid holiday journeys this year had been smooth except for one or two incidents.

The state minister made the remarks while talking to the media at the ministry in Dhaka on Wednesday (Aug 14) on the first working day after the Eid holidays.

Except for the derailment of a train and suspension of ferry and launch services for 18 hours due to bad weather, they were satisfied with how the Eid holiday journey had gone this year, the minister said.

Stating that no plane flights were cancelled this year, he said that government was trying to make the toll plazas on highways more efficient to reduce travel time.
