Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at several places across the country on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Moderately heavy rainfall is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chittagong divisions, at a few places over Dhaka and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions in the next 24 hours till 6 pm on Monday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh, said a Met Office bulletin.
One of its associated troughs extends up to the north Bay of Bengal and a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas until 6 pm on Monday.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Tangail, Faridpur, Bogura, Pabna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Sayedpur, Tetulia, Sathkhira, Jashore and Chuadanga, and it may continue at some other places.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said the Met Office.
