Dengue patients decreasing gradually: Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque was addressing the media at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMS) on Saturday (Aug 3).The number of dengue patients have decreased, said Health Minister Zahid Malek.
“In the last 24 hours almost 600 people got tested at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and 16 came out positive,” he said on Saturday (Aug 3) after completing his visit to Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
“At Dhaka Shishu Hospital 163 people got tested and only seven came out positive,” he added.
He said that the statistics show that less people were being affected by dengue.
The minister said that compared to the rest of the world, the number of people killed by the mosquito-borne virus in Bangladesh is less.
“The least number of casualties are in Bangladesh. We launched initiatives for free testing and treatment which isn’t available anywhere else.”
