The National Moon-Sighting Committee will hold a meeting on Friday (Aug 2) to fix the date of the holy Eid-ul-Azha and review reports of moon sighting of holy month of Zilhajj.

The meeting will be held at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office with State Minister of Religious Affairs and Moon Sighting Committee Chairman Sheikh Md Abdullah in the chair, said a media release.

The month of Jilhajj will begin from Saturday if the moon is sighted on Friday, making Eid-day on Aug 12 in Bangladesh.

If the moon is not sighted on Friday, Jilhajj will start from Sunday and Eid will be on Aug 13.

People are requested to report to the committee on the sighting of the moon from any place of the country.
