The government has cancelled all leave of all health ministry officials until further notice amidst the dengue outbreak.
Cabinet Division acting Secretary Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made the announcement during a media briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday (Jul 30).
“Those doctors who are in training will be brought back to their stations. Those hospitals not equipped for dengue treatment will be made fit for treatment,” he said.
“So far eight people have died and in the last 24 hours 3,847 have been diagnosed with dengue,” he added.
So far, a total of 13, 737 people have been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne viral disease, he said before adding that all the government employees have been asked to keep their surroundings clean.
He said that the education ministry would soon issue a gazette notification announcing that scout teams will be formed to go around different areas and work on dengue and rumour prevention.
The Cabinet division official added that the education ministry has also cancelled the holidays of all its teachers and employees.
