Directive sought to ramp up court security, install metal detectors

The court has also asked what punitive measures will be taken against those who were in charge of security in Cumilla when a person was stabbed to death in the room of a judge.
The directives came from the joint bench of justices, FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader.
The hearing on behalf of the writ was lawyer Ishrat Hassan.
At one point, the court said: “The fact that a knife was brought into court is the failure of the police to carry out its duty.”
On Jul 15, at the Cumilla court, one accused killed another co-accused with a knife at the room of judge Fatema Ferdous.
In that incident, 27-year-old Faruk Hossain was killed and the killer is Abul Hasan, 25.
A court directive was asked for metal detector plus two layers of police protection within court premises. The writ also asked for robust policemen to be deployed with heavy weapons within court premises.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday (Jul 16), an accused in a criminal case was attacked by people of the plaintiff after taking bail. Later, three persons were handed over to the police.
