The undated file photo shows Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal speaks at a programme.Former Sonagazi police OC Moazzem Hossain will be brought to the brought to the book for his part in the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“Since he [Moazzem] is on the run, it's taking a while to find him,” he told the media on Sunday (Jun 9).
He added that those involved in Nusrat’s murder won’t be spared and that no one is above the law.
Nusrat, an Alim examinee, was set on fire on Apr 6 for refusing to withdraw sexual assault charges against now suspended madrasa principle Siraj-ud-Daula.
She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit on Apr 10 after a five-day battle with extensive burn injuries.
Ten days prior to the fatal attack on her, she gave a statement about Siraj in front of the then Sonagazi police OC Moazzem Hossain who recorded the whole thing.
The video that showed him asking Nusrat objectionable questions went viral on social media after which he was sued under the Digital Security Act.
The Police Bureau of Investigation submitted the probe report over the incident on May 27. The court issued an arrest warrant against him the same day.
He has been on the run since then but two days after the warrant was issued Moazzem moved the High Court for interim bail, the hearing for which is scheduled for Jun 11.
