Obaidul QuaderAfter joining office following medical treatment for more than two months, Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader says his biggest challenge now is bringing back discipline in the transport sector.

“I could have died but I have been given another chance to work for the people. It's my second innings of life and overcoming challenges will be my first priority.” he said on Sunday (May 19).

He expressed his hopes that the Eid journey of commuters this year will be smooth as a result of better traffic management and prior preparation.

While talking with media at the secretariat, he said: “Our ministry started Eid preparation before Ramadan. Our preparations are much better than previous years,”

He also announced that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 2nd Meghna and 2nd Gumti bridges on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on May 25.

Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, returned home from Singapore on May 15.

The AL leader was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Mar 3 following a cardiac arrest and was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment the next day.
