The government will not allow or accept any lobbying from doctors or nurses wishing to be transferred to Dhaka from other parts of the country, says Health Minister Zahid Maleque
The minister made the remark this while addressing the press at a coordination meeting of directors of hospitals from outside Dhaka at the Health Ministry on Tuesday (May 14).
"Doctors and nurses, who are posted outside of the capital, lobby hard to be transferred to Dhaka by making various excuses. As a result, hospitals outside of Dhaka have an acute crisis of physicians, and this is not at all acceptable."
The minister further said people living in rural areas also have the right to proper health care.
"If doctors and nurses posted in different parts of the country lobby to be transferred to Dhaka, health services in rural areas will become vulnerable," he added.
