Private bus operators will start the sale of advance tickets on long routes for Eid-ul-Fitr on May 17 while railways authorities will start on May 22.
Sale of the advance bus ticket will continue till May 31.
The tickets of over 500 bus operators will be available at the bus counters in the city’s Gabtoli. Sahyamoli, Kallyanpur, Mazar Road, Kalabagan and Mohakhali bus terminal, Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners’ Association Chairman Ramesh Chandra Ghosh told Bangla Tribune.
Sale of the ticket will start at 6am daily.
All but two tickets of a bus will be sold in advance, said Ghosh.
Advance train ticket
The railways authorities will start the sale of advance railway tickets for Eid on May 22 and it will last for five days ending on May 25.
“Tickets will be available at five locations for the convenience of the passengers,” Railway Secretary Md Mofazzal Hossain told Bangla Tribune on Monday (May 13).
He added that the move was to ensure that the passengers don’t have to stand in line for hours.
For the first time, tickets will be available at Tejgaon, Banani, Fulbaria, in addition to Kamlapur and Airport station.
“The government has made significant improvements in the railway sector. We’ll do whatever it takes to ensure passenger services,” he said and added that 50 percent of the tickets will be available on apps.
He said that tickets for May 31, Jun 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be available on May 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 respectively.
The return tickets will be available from May 29. The tickets for Jun 7, 8,9,10 and 11 will be available on May 29, 30, 31, Jun 1 and 2 respectively.
The secretary said that six special trains will operate on the occasion of Eid. These will leave Dhaka between Jun 2 and 4 and return on Jun 6 and 12.
