Trucks, lorries banned on highways during Eid

In addition to the three-wheelers, no trucks and lorries are allowed to ply on highways for seven days ahead and after the Eid, Secretary of Road Transport and Highway Division Md Nazrul Islam told the media after a meeting at secretariat on Thursday (May 9).
The decision to ban has taken to ensure a smoother, comfortable and hassle-free journey to the holidaymakers during the festival, he added.
Islam said that mobile court will conduct raid on highways in the stipulated time with a 24-hour control room will be in operation.
CNG refuelling stations will remain open for 24 hours seven ahead of and five days after the Eid, he added.
