Government of the People`s Republic of BangladeshTo get the facility of interest free cars, government officials will now have to give 1 percent service charge. A notice in this regard was issued from the ministry of public administration on Apr 25.
Meanwhile, the facility to buy interest free cars is being given to deputy secretaries and senior officers of the Election Commission and the secretariat.
Officers with privilege from these two organisations will begin to get loans from the next fiscal year.
It’s found that the government has started an interest free car loan facility for deputy secretary and higher level officers from 2017-18 with many already taking the facility.
The fixed loan amount is Tk 3 million, which will include the price of the vehicle, tax, registration, and other expenses.
However, from now on, 1 percent service charge will have to be given.
Several officials have called the system unfair to new car loan applicants since previous loan takers were not asked to pay the service charge.
Additional secretary of the Election Commission, Mokhlesur Rahman, says, “A letter has been sent to the ministry of public administration on the loan but we have not made any formal declaration.”
