Indian media reported that the government ordered Ferdous to leave the country after receiving report from Bureau of Immigration regarding visa violations.Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed has found himself in hot water as India blacklisted him after joining election campaign of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress party.
He caught a flight for Dhaka on Tuesday (Apr 16), the Bangladesh embassy confirmed following reports in Indian media that his visa was cancelled.

The Indian government ordered the actor to leave the country after receiving report from Bureau of Immigration regarding visa violations, the Hindustan Times reported citing a statement from the union home ministry.
“We are embarrassed as we had no idea. Ferdous campaigned for a political party without informing the embassy,” an official of the Dhaka mission told Bangla Tribune, on condition of anonymity.
Ferdous joined Trinamool rallies in Raiganj, north Bengal, on Sunday and Monday (Apr 14 and 15) and solicited votes for the party’s candidate in the constituency Kanaia Lal Agarwal.

Opposition parties in West Bengal, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had protested his appearance.
The parties also demanded the cancellation of the candidature of Agarwal.
Agarwal, however, says he had no knowledge on the Bangladeshi actor joining his campaign.
“Look, is at all possible for me to keep tabs who campaigned for me and where? With only seven days to go for the polls, I don’t even have time to catch my breath. I have no idea which film star solicited votes for me,” he told Bangla Tribune.

Ferdous joined Trinamool rallies in Raiganj, north Bengal, on Sunday and Monday (Apr 14 and 15) and solicited votes for the party’s candidate in the constituency Kanaia Lal Agarwal. TwitterEarlier on Tuesday, BJP leaders met Election Commission officials in Kolkata and filed a complaint against Ferdous.
According to BJP leader JP Majumdar, as a Bangladeshi national, Ferdous cannot campaign for an Indian political party in the country's national elections.
“We understand that foreign nationals can’t participate in the electioneering process in India. When TMC is using Bangladeshi nationals (actor Ferdous) for campaigning, they are breaking the rules. He should be arrested for breach of visa rules,” Majumdar was quoted as saying by ANI.
In its complaint, the BJP said that Ferdous’ participation was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
BJP leader Pratap Banerjee said that the decision to include Ferdous in the campaign process shows “Trinamool Congress’ love for Bangladeshis”.
Defending the party’s decision, TMC Minister Madan Mitra asserted that his party “will not do anything that is anti-national, illegal or violative of the MCC”.
Many Bangali actors have long been associated with the TMC, either as campaign magnets or as candidates. The party is fielding actors like Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty in the ongoing Lok Sabha (lower house of parliament) elections.
