State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah said on Tuesday (Apr 16) that as per the National Moon Sighting Committee’s decision, Shab-e-Barat will be observed on Apr 21.

The government has ended all confusion regarding the date of Shab-e-Barat, confirming that holy event will be observed on Apr 21.

“As per the National Moon Sighting Committee’s decision, Shab-e-Barat will be observed on Apr 21,” State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah told the media on Tuesday (Apr 16).

The National Moon Sighting Committee announced on Apr 6 that the new moon for the Shaban month on the lunar Islamic calendar was not sighted on that day.

However, Majlishu Ruiyatil Hilal claimed that the moon was sighted on Apr 6, according to which the Shab-e-Barat is supposed to fall on the 20th.

On Apr 13, a 10-member panel was been formed to clear the confusion created over the date of one of the major religious events for the muslims.

Following a meeting the same day the minister announced that Shab-e-Barat will be observed on Apr 21, which will be the 15th day of the Shaban month.
