Two more suspected drug traders have been killed in separate incidents of “shootouts” in Cumilla and Cox’s Bazar on Saturday amid on-going anti-drug drives across the country.
Cumilla
An alleged drug dealer Saddam Hossain, 36, was killed in a reported gun battle with police near Koroibon area of Chauddagram Upazila early Saturday.
Saddam was accused in twelve drug cases with police, said Chauddagram Police Station OC Md Abul Foysal.
Four policemen were also injured in the incident, he added.
The law enforcers recovered 200 bottles of Phensidyl and firearms from the scene.
Cox’s Bazar
Another suspected drug trafficker Md Shahjahan, 30, was killed in a “gunfight” between two groups of drug peddlers at Chakaria Upazila’s Baniyachhara hilly area in the wee hours of Saturday.
Chakaria Police Station OC Bakhtiar Uddin said that based on information, police reached the spot and found Shahjahan’s body.
Police also recovered 4,000 pieces of contraband Yaba pills and firearms from the spot.
Several cases had been filed against Shahjahan with police, the OC added.
