UNHRCAs part of the initiative to create more international pressure on Myanmar on the Rohingya issue, Bangladesh wants a special session in United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and trying to bring a resolution to the Third Committee of the United Nations (UN). To make two objectives successful, the assistance of all concerned countries has also been sought.

Asked about this, a foreign ministry official said, ‘Today (Wednesday) we have briefed the Ambassadors of developed nations and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and sought their support.

He said, "The regular sessions of the Human Rights Council hold in March, June, and September. Since the Rohingya issue is very important, we would like to call a special session to discuss this issue in the next month without waiting for March.”

It is to be noted that Bangladesh is a member of the UNHRC and anyone from 45 member states of the Council can call for this special session, but it requires the support of at least 16 countries.

When asked about what Bangladesh wants to achieve from this session, he said, “First of all, it is a condemnation for the country to have a special meeting on a definite country's human rights situation. Secondly, Bangladesh wants a resolution to be taken there. Although it is not known what will be the result of the meeting, he said that aggressive talks are going on from Bangladesh to accept resolutions with everyone.”
