FR TowerAssessment of the documents of FR Tower, the building in Banani which recently saw a tragic fire accident, has brought out diabolical irregularities. It’s believed that the building has two designs and both were approved by one authorized officer on the same day.
The developer of the building claims that it has valid papers up to 23 floors while RAJUK and the land owner say that the approval is for 18 floors, and the remaining five floors were constructed illegally.
As per information acquired through probe, it’s clear that one authorized RAJUK officer, Badiuzzman, signed approval for the 23 floor building in 2004.
Meanwhile, RAJUK has also found another paper signed by Badiuzzaman showing that he had signed approval for 18 floors.
Relevant committees of the ministry of housing and works have begun investigating both the documents though the current whereabouts of Badiuzzaman is not known.
Owner of the land is SMH Faruk and his manager, Kamal Hossain, told Bangla Tribune: “our sir (Faruk) entered into an agreement with Ruayan to build an 18 storey building but later, Rupayan gave a proposal for 23 floors and sir said that he is willing provided there is an approval from RAJUK.”
After the fire tragedy at F R Tower, RAJUK chairman and housing and works minister, S M Rezaul Karim, said: “approval was given to the building for 18 stories in 1996 but in 2005 another design was placed before RAJUK, which is dissimilar to the one given before.”
