Fire Service is conducting rescue efforts for the second day of the fatal fire at a multi-storied building in Banani that has claimed 19 lives so far.
The search was halted for a break at 3 am and resumed again at 8 am on Friday (Mar 29), said Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Saleh Ahmed.“We have been conducting the search since the fire was doused but we haven’t recovered any bodies since this morning,” he said.
“We are meticulously searching each floor so that we don’t miss anything,” he added.
Meanwhile, police have been deployed on both sides of the building and no one other than law enforcers or fire service is being allowed to enter.Top ranking fire service, police and army officers visited the scene in the morning and gave their instructions.
“It’s taking a while because there are important things on different floors,” said Gulshan zone Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed.
He added that the building will be handed over to the police shortly and after that 21 teams will then work inside the building for a probe.Each team comprising of a sub inspector, assistant sub inspector and nine policemen will carry out investigation and after its all done legal actions will be taken against those responsible for the fire.
On Thursday (Mar 28) a deadly fire broke out on the ninth floor of the multi storied FR Tower at Banani.
Over 20 firefighting worked for over six hours to douse the fire that has claimed 19 lives and injured scores.
