A fire that broke out at high-rise building at Dhaka’s Banani has left at least one person killed, say hospital officials.
“A body has been brought to the hospital with another 11 people being admitted with burn injuries,” Assitant Director of Kurmitola General Hospital Lt Col Belayet Hossain told Bangla Tribune.
He feared that causality might rise.
Around 1pm on Thursday (Mar 28), flames erupted at the 21-stoery ‘FR Tower’ at the Kamal Ataturk Avenue at the capital’s upscale mixed neighbourhood of Banani.
The fire originated on the 9th floor of the commercial building, said Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room Officer Enyaetullah.
As many as many as 22 firefighting units are at the scene battling the flames, who were later joined by members of the army, navy and air force.
