Ahead of the phase-4 voting of the Upazila polls, the Election Commission has instructed seven Awami League lawmakers to leave their constituencies.
In letters dispatched late on Wednesday (Mar 27), the commission has ordered them to leave election zones by Thursday (Mar 28) ‘for the sake of the polls’.
They are Tangail MPs Md Hasan Imam Khan and Joaherul Islam, Md. Mozammel Hossain of Bagerhat-4, Md. Akhteruzzaman of Khulna-6, Md. Nasir Uddin of Jashore-2 and Kazim Uddin Ahmed of Mymensingh-11.
As many as 127 Upazila will go to polls on Mar 31 in fourth phase of the election. The commission has so far ordered at least 24 MPs, most of them from the ruling Awami League, to leave their constituencies since the voting started from Mar 10.
