The government has moved towards abolishing all kinds of exams for students studying in grades one, two and three from next academic year.
“The prime minister directed us to do away all kinds of exams to relieve the students from exam stress. Besides, we already had it planned,” Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Additional Secretary Md Gias Uddin Ahmed said on Wednesday (Mar 20).
With no exams in place, the students will be evaluated based on their classroom performances, he added.
Ahmed also said a report will be prepared based on stakeholders’ opinion and sent to the prime minister for her approval before implementing the move.
