The meeting which lasted nearly for an hour was held at a hotel in Kolkata. FOCUS BANGLAPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina has held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The hour-long closed-door meeting on Saturday evening took place a Kolkata hotel, reports United News of India.
"We have discussed several things in the meeting as we share same relation, same culture and same tradition," the news agency quoted Banarjee saying after the meeting.
Describing the talks as a ‘courtesy call’, the West Bengal chief minister said the discussion centred on education, culture and business.
Banerjee said she shared a very cordial relationship with Hasina and no geographical or political boundary could create differences between West Bengal and Bangladesh, says the UNI report.
She evaded queries on whether the Teesta water sharing issue was among the agenda.
Banerjee, however, made it clear to the media on Thursday that the matter would not be discussed during her talks with Hasina.
"We will be meeting in Kolkata before she (Hasina) leaves for Bangladesh on Saturday. There is no place for discussion on Teesta river," First Post quoted her saying while speaking to the media in Shantiniketan.
