The New Zealand government will be making travel arrangements for a close relative of each Bangladeshi victim of the Mar 15 terrorist attacks, says State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam.
He confirmed that four Bangladeshis perished in the terrorist attacks in Christchurch that saw a total of 50 people killed, reports UNB.
"We are urging all concerned to communicate through our hotline numbers," Shahriar said.
Following the gruesome terrorist attacks on the two mosques in Christchurch, the Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra has intensely engaged with the New Zealand authorities for the safety of Bangladeshis in New Zealand, and the early safe exit of the Bangladesh national cricket team from New Zealand.The incident had happened minutes before the Bangladesh cricket team arrived at one of the mosques.
The High Commission directly and through the Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Auckland disseminated messages to the Bangladeshis living in New Zealand to remain calm, be indoors, avoid the places of congregation and obey the instructions of law enforcement agencies.
Honorary Consul of Bangladesh Shafiqur Rahman arrived at Christchurch Saturday morning to extend support to the Bangladeshi victims.
