Osman Gani, a language movement hero, has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka.
He breathed his last around 9:30 on Saturday (Mar 16) at the BIRDEM hospital. He was 89.
Osman Gani was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago for old age complications, said his family.
The veteran language hero left behind his wife, four sons, and three daughters.
Osman Gani, then a student of Dhaka University, took part in the 1952 Language Movement in Dhaka as a member of the committee convened by Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin.
His funeral prayers is scheduled to be held at Rehaichar Idgah in the district town after Asr Prayer on Sunday (Mar 17).
