They gathered at the base of Raju Sculpture near the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) on Thursday (Mar 14) morning and said they will continue their protest until their demands are met by the authorities.
They went on the hunger strike since Tuesday (Mar 12) evening. The students also demanded the resignation of the elections officials.
Initially it was four students who began the hunger strike amid the row over DUCSU polls. Later three others joined in the programme. However, among them a student has become ill and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
They said that one of their co-protester Aninda Mondal became ill late on Wednesday and was taken to the DMCH.
However, he was later released from the hospital.
“He (Anindo) has been released from the hospital and taken to his hall,” Anindo’s fellow classmate Tahid Jamil told Bangla Tribune.
“Re-schedule for DUCSU election must be announced soon or the protest will be continued until our demands are met,” Mim Arafat Manob, a protester, told Bangla Tribune.
Another 14 students, who are from DU’s Physics department, expressed solidarity with the protesting students and joined them with posters and placards in their hands.
