Hasina, Modi inaugurate Bangladesh Bhaban

Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi at Santiniketan on May 25, 2018.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Friday inaugurated Bangladesh Bhaban at Shantiniketon in West Bengal.
The Bangladesh Bhaban, which is dubbed as the symbol of culture of the two countires, is built to promote the Bengali culture.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present in the programme.
Hasina said she was extremely happy to be at Shantiniketon to inaugurate the bhaban
She said Rabindranath Tagore is popular in both side Bangla but he is more popular in Bangladesh.
Modi in his speech said that he was proud to inaugurate the bhaban.
Hasina reached India this morning and flew to Shantiniketon along with Modi where both the prime ministers attended a convocation ceremony.
Hasina’s two-day visit to India starts today, she is scheduled to have a meeting with Indian premier Modi and receive a honourary doctorate degree from Kazi Nazrul University in Asansol.

Bangladesh Bhaban has a modern theatre, exhibit room and a big library.
The library contains books on literature, culture, history, Bangladesh Liberation War and Indian freedom movement history. Two murals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Rabindranath Tagore were placed at two sides of the building entrance.
Bangladesh borne all the expenses to build the Bhaban.
