On Thursday (Mar 7), the Election Commission dispatched separate letters to Kurigram MPs MA Matin and Aslam Hossain Saudagar, lawmakers from Sunamganj Mouazzam Hossain Ratan and Joya Sengupta, and Lalmonirhat-1 MP Motahar Hossain.
They have been told to leave their constituencies by Friday (Mar 8).
The move comes a day after, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda wrote Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury over lawmakers complying with the polls code.
The code of conduct for the Upazila polls defines MPs as privileged persons, enjoying state benefits, and bars them from taking part in campaigns.
Last week, ruling party MPs, Omor Faruk Chowdhury of Rajshahi1, Md Abdul Quddus of Natore-4 and Waresat Hussain Belal of Netrokona-5 to leave Upazila electoral zones in their constituencies for violating the code.
The first phase of the 5th Upazila Parishad Elections begins on Mar 10 with voting in 87 upazilas. The Election Commission plans to conduct the election in a total of five phases.
