Nineteen areas of corruption identified in aviation: ACC

FILE PHOTOThe Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) identified eight and 11 areas of corruption in the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the civil aviation sector respectively.
The watchdog also prepared as many as 11 recommendations to prevent the menace.
ACC commissioner Mozammel Haque Khan handed over a report on corruption in the Biman ans the civil aviation sector to State Minister for Civil Aviation Mahbub Ali at his office in Dhaka on Sunday (Mar 3).
The report said that 11 areas of corruption have been indentified in civil aviation including maintenance, repair, purchase, property management, construction, development work, appointment of consultants, recruitment of staff, promotions and transfer, lease of airport spaces, and stalls and billboard fare.
Besides, eight types of corruption including purchase, lease of aircraft, ticket sales, ticket sales, export and import of cargo, catering, recruitment and transfer hit the national flag carrier.
Speaking to media, the minister warned of tough action against corruption.
“Not only those are carrying out corruption but also who are neglecting duties will face stern action. None will be spared,” said Ali.
