Buses will remain operational at the main roads in the capital on Feb 28, the voting day for the election of Dhaka north and south city corporations.
Earlier authorities issued directives to keep all kinds of transport services off during the polls day in the capital. However, vehicles have been given permission to hit the roads in certain cases including transports carrying students, who must carry their identity cards or entry passes to exams.
Bus services will be allowed to operate in the main roads while other vehicles for unnecessary movements have been barred; Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda briefed the media on Wednesday (Feb 28).
“There could be a number of emergency situations when people may need to move. For example, there will be passengers going to the Airport; there will be ambulances and vehicles transporting goods. The police have been instructed to take such cases into consideration,” said the CEC.
