Almost half the inmates at the Dhaka Central Jail are involved with drug trade, says Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
His remarks came on Wednesday (Feb 27) during a Dhaka South City Corporation program at Nagar Bhaban.
“We will stamp out addiction through social awareness, just the way we did with militancy and terrorism,” he said and added that no one will be spared.
“Security has been heightened in areas through which drugs get in but it’s still happening. We’re working to control it,” he said.
Kamal said that everyone has to cooperate with the law enforcers to weed out addiction.
He expressed hope to rehabilitate the drug traders throughout the countries, similar to the ones that surrendered in Cox’s Bazar.
