The killings of alleged drug dealers at the hands of the law enforcers continued Monday night also as a number of 10 ‘peddlers’ were killed in ‘shootouts’ with RAB and police in eight districts of the country.
In total, a number of 28 alleged drug peddlers have been killed in four days.
On Monday night, two were killed in Cumilla, two in Dinajpur, and one each in Chuadanga, Chattogram and Netrokona, Brahmanbaria, Narayanganj, Chuadanga and Nilphamari.
All the killings have been confirmed by law enforcers of the respective districts.
Our Cumilla correspondent reports, two top listed ‘drug traders’ named Sharif and Piar were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Monday midnight at Aranyapur area in the district town.
Kotwali model thana OC Abdus Salam Mia told Bangla Tribune: “Acting on a tip off that a huge consignment of drugs is being smuggled, a team of district DB police led by Additional Police Super Tanvir Salehin Emon took position at the spot. Sensing their presence drug traders opened fire on them. In retaliation, police also fired bullets.”
“Sharif and Piar received bullet injuries in the gunfight. Police recovered them wounded and rushed them to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared them dead. Four police members were also injured,” he added.
One revolver, 50 kgs cannabis, and 500 bottles of contraband phensidyl were recovered from the spot.
Our Chuadanga Correspondent reports, an alleged drug dealer Kamruzzaman Sadhu (45) was killed in a ‘shootout’ with police on Monday night near Alamdanga rail station in the district.
Sadhu, son of Emdadul Huq, He hailed from Hardi village under Alamdanga upazila.
A group of 6/7 ‘drug traders’ opened fire on a police patrol team near the station on Monday night, injuring two police officials. Police also fired bullets in response, killing Sadhu on spot.
Our Chattogram correspondent reports, an allege3d drug peddler named Shukkur Ali (45) was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with a RAB team at Dobarpar area under Bayezid police station in the port city.
Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7 Mimtanur Rahman said, “Acting on a tip off, a team of RAB conducted a raid at that area. A group of drug dealers opened fire on the RAB team after they reached the area, RAB also fired back. The miscreants then left the spot, leaving seriously wounded Shukkur behind on spot.”
“Duty doctors declared him dead after he was rushed to Chattogram medical College Hospital,” he added.
Our Netrokona correspondent reports, alleged drug dealer Amzad Hossain was killed at Boroari area under Sadar upazila in the district on Monday night.
Netrokona Model thana OC Borhan Uddin said, “Police detained Amzad at 2:00 pm on Monday night, and conducted a raid at Boroari area with him. Amzad’s accomplices then open fired on the police team, killing him on the spot.
“Four police members were also injured during the gunfight,” he added.
Our Nilphamari correspondent reports, two alleged drug traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police on Monday night at Golahat Baddhavumi area under Syedpur town, after they were detained earlier in the afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Jony (34) and Shahin (32).
Syedpur circle Additional Police Super Ashok Kumar Pal, confirmed the news, said, “Four police personnel were also injured in the fight. They have been admitted to hospital.
Our Narayanganj correspondent reports, an alleged ‘drug trader’ named Bachchu Mia was killed in a ‘shootout’ with RAB on Monday night at Shimultali area under Arai Hajar upazila in the district when a team of RAB conducted a drive to recover drugs taking the detained Bachchu Mia with them.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, Prabal Hossain, an alleged drug dealer was killed in a similar gunfight at Birampur upazila in the district on Monday night.
Birampur police said police conducted a raid to recover drugs at Manipur area in the upazila at 3:00 am Tuesday. A gunfight took place between a group of miscreants and the police, leaving Prabal injured on the spot.
Police recovered him and rushed to upazila health complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.
In Brahmanbaria also, a drug trader was killed on Monday night. Our correspondent reports, alleged drug dealer Dhaonmia (28) was killed in a gunfight at 3:30 am Tuesday at marichkanda area under Sonarampur union at Bancharampur upazila.
Additional Police Super Mahiuddin faruki said, “A RAB team conducted a raid at Dhanmia’s den at Marichkandi. Sensing their presence, Dhonmia’s accomplices opened fire on the RAB team. In retaliation, RAB also fired back, killing the drug dealer on spot.”
