Top Bangladesh government officials will get an allowance of Tk 75,000 for buying mobile phones, according to new policy cleared Monday.
Their mobile phone bills will be also paid by the State.
The weekly Cabinet meeting gave its green light to the draft Government Telephone, Cellular, Set and Internet Policy-2018, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told the media.
Ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, secretaries and acting secretaries will be eligible for the privilege. The draft stipulates of a Tk 75,000 for purchasing handsets, up from the previous Tk 15,000.
“A decent android mobile handset cost at least Tk 75,000. Besides that, they will get a ceiling-free mobile connection,” Secretary Alam said.
He also added that the mobile bill for joint secretaries and additional secretaries went up to Tk 1500 from existing Tk 600.
In separate instructions, the cabinet also includes the justices of the Supreme Court into the policy. It also allows roaming facility for the Chief of Protocol of the foreign ministry.
