The government has decided to import 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat from Russia.
Singapore-based M/S Agrocrop International will supply the wheat for $ 294.95 per tonne.
“Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase cleared the sourcing of wheat in a meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday (Feb 18),” Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division Nasima Begum told the media.
The meeting, presided over by the Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal also approved the sourcing of 50,000 tonnes of Urea fertiliser, which has been contracted to Poton Traders. Half the quantity will be imported via Chattogram port for the cost of $336.21 per tonne, while the rest using the Mongla port for $337.21 per tonne.
The committee also approved a proposal on clearing due payments of Internet Services availed by various government bodies. The due amount from Jan 2017 to Spet 2018 stands at Tk 934.5 million.
The meeting signed off on a tender for the construction of two 20 storey-buildings in Azimpur Government Colony; for which the cost has been estimated at over Tk 1.95 billion.
